Considering abortion? What you need to know before an abortion procedure:
If you’re in the Saint Paul area and considering getting an abortion, make an appointment with one of our caring professionals to discuss the options available to you. Get answers to the questions you may have about pregnancy and abortion.
Am I really pregnant?
What stage am I in my pregnancy?
What abortion method will be used?
What happens after an abortion?
Are there other options available to me?
What if I’ve already had an abortion?
Before thinking about abortion, find out if you’re really pregnant.
Before getting any type of abortion, you first need to confirm that you’re actually pregnant. Even if you have pregnancy symptoms or have taken a home test it’s important that you have your pregnancy confirmed.
+We do not offer, recommend or refer for abortions or abortifacients.
It’s important to have an ultrasound before an abortion to determine if the pregnancy is viable.
By doing an Ultrasound, our medical staff will be able to tell you whether you have a viable (living) pregnancy. If you really are pregnant, our medical staff will be able to tell you how far along you are in your pregnancy.
A high-quality Ultrasound performed by one of our skilled, friendly, and knowledgeable medical professionals will provide you with the following benefits:
Confirmation of a viable pregnancy
Prevent you from needing an abortion if you are already miscarrying but don’t realize it (25% of pregnancies naturally end in miscarriage)
Show how far along you are
Tell you if the pregnancy is in utero (in the uterus) or ectopic (outside the womb), which can be life-threatening
Clinical, private setting
Confidential results and advocacy

Know your rights.
As with any medical or surgical procedure, you have certain rights which should never be signed away. Remember, a coerced abortion is illegal under Minnesota law. No one can force you to have an abortion, even if you are a minor.
Minnesota Statutes section 145.4241 - 145.4249 [Woman’s Right to Know Act] requires that a woman be provided the following information at least 24 hours before an abortion, except in the case of a medical emergency:
the particular medical risks associated with the particular abortion procedure to be employed;
the probable gestational age of the unborn child at the time the abortion is to be performed;
the medical risks associated with carrying her child to term;
for abortions after 20 weeks gestational, whether or not an anesthetic or analgesic would eliminate or alleviate organic pain to the unborn child caused by the particular method of abortion to be employed and the particular medical benefits and risks associated with the particular anesthetic or analgesic. A physician must also provide the woman with any additional costs associated with the administration of an anesthetic or analgesic.
that medical assistance benefits may be available for prenatal care, childbirth, and neonatal care;
that the father is liable to assist in the support of her child even in instances when the father has offered to pay for an abortion; and
that she has the right to review materials made available by the Minnesota Department of Health.
